On Thursday, June 18, 2019, the #CBAChamber team visited the Atlantic Canada Petroleum Show (ACPS) at Mile One Centre.

The ACPS is a trade show that highlights technology and innovation within the natural resource sector. East coast energy companies gathered together for two days to discuss sustainability, rising challenges, and to garner new information surrounding the industry.

From technical hardware to protective gear and materials to software and communications, ACPS provided an extensive look into the world of petroleum by showcasing the direct and indirect impacts of one of Canada’s largest industries. Through TECHTalks from innovative leaders as well as exhibitors from across Canada, we were able to get a clear grasp of the dynamic sector.

The following day, the #CBAChamber team travelled to the St. John’s Convention Centre for the Noia Conference.

The Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) conference focuses on connecting businesses in the oil and gas sector by providing tools for growth, business ventures, education and services with the intention of promoting the development of Eastern Canada’s natural resource sector.

A common theme of both events was the focus of technology in today’s business landscape, with an emphasis on connectivity in the workplace, communication, and data in business. In an ever-changing world of technology, businesses are always adapting to gain a competitive edge and influence in their field.

Several Chamber Members were in attendance, including:
PF Collins, Cougar Helicopters, NLOWE, and Parsons & Sons Transportation, who provided the complimentary shuttle transport to the event.

The bustling conferences both showcased the high degree of optimism for the natural resource sector in Newfoundland and Labrador, presenting as a positive sign for the future of the provincial economy. As students, the #CBAChamber team is very grateful to the industry leaders that took the time out of their busy schedules to teach us about their businesses and how they can contribute to the Oil & Gas sector. Moving forward, we are excited to bring our newfound knowledge to our members and implement the technological strategies that were leveraged at the events.
